If you have subscribed to The Local by purchasing a subscription through your Google account you have purchased a Subscribe with Google (SwG) membership.
You can confirm this by checking your Google account for a subscription to The Local.
To use the subscription purchased through Google on The Local it will need to be activated. Follow the steps below to activate your subscription:
- Make sure that you are completely logged out of The Local website.
- Open a browser window and make sure you are logged into https://www.google.com/ with your Google email address.
- In the same browser, open a tab and go to The Local website.
- Navigate around The Local - click around to a few pages. You do NOT need to log in on our website. You should get a message asking if you want to connect your Google and Local accounts.
If this does not work on the first try, please clear your cache and cookies and try again: Clear Cookies, Browsing History and Cache - WhatIsMyBrowser.com
Once connected, you should not need to connect your accounts again.
If you are not able to link accounts using the above steps please check that third party cookies are enabled and also confirm you do not have an existing account at The Local.
After connecting the accounts, if you use our app on your phone you can uninstall and reinstall the app to make sure that you are using the latest version. Then when you go to log in on the app make sure that you click on the Google icon in the login window to sign into Google.
